Dear Colleagues,

Happy 2022! We are excited to begin a new semester together.

As we have received many queries about the start of the spring semester, we think it would be beneficial to have a community conversation about spring planning and preparation next Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 5:15 p.m. via Zoom. We encourage all of our colleagues on the staff and faculty to attend. In advance of that, we would like to highlight some items from the recently updated COVID-19 campus protocols and testing strategy.

All students will be tested shortly before returning to campus and again when they arrive, and there will be testing throughout the semester including testing of a random sample of asymptomatic students.

The indoor masking requirement will be in place at the start of the semester and will remain in effect until we see a significant improvement in infection rates for the region and on campus. KN-95 masks are available for faculty/staff.

Classes will continue to be held in person during the spring semester. As Lafayette is a residential college, classroom instruction and being in community are the most critical aspects that enable us to deliver on our mission. Our commitment to health and safety and to fulfilling this mission guide all of our decisions.

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

Nicole, Annette, and John
