Active COVID-19 cases
As mentioned in yesterday’s update and indicated on the College’s COVID-19 dashboard, the large increase in active positive cases on campus has continued this week. In addition, the  COVID-19 transmission rate in Northampton County is categorized as high.

Events and gatherings
Much like other organizations nationwide, Lafayette will begin requiring proof of vaccination or a recent negative test from visitors to campus for admission to on-campus events (excluding classroom activities) effective Sept. 20.

  • Visitors to campus: Guests must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a recent (within 72 hours) negative test to attend events and gatherings (20 or more) on campus. This includes all athletic competitions and Williams Center performances.  Children ineligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine are permitted to attend events and are expected to be masked at all times.
  • Campus community: Lafayette ID will be required to confirm vaccination status in order to attend athletic events as is already the case for Williams Center performances.

Mask expectation outdoors
In addition to requiring masks indoors, the College now expects everyone on campus to wear masks outdoors when in group settings including classes.

Masking remains an effective method of reducing the transmission of COVID-19, which is airborne. We have committed to retaining indoor masking until the Northampton County transmission rate drops and our campus COVID-19 cases have moderated. Expect to continue masking for the foreseeable future.

Upcoming major events
Schedules for major campus events such as Family Weekend, Inauguration, and Homecoming are being adjusted to comply with campus protocols and policies. Please check the respective websites frequently for announcements and schedule updates.
