To the campus community:

News about COVID-19 infection rates around the globe, coupled with recent CDC guidance and the approach of the fall semester, is leading to questions about how we as a community will operate in the coming year.

We understand the recent news from the CDC regarding changes to masking recommendations has created some questions. For those on campus this summer, masks are strongly recommended when indoors. This reflects the guidance and changing COVID-19 landscape in Northampton County (current status is “substantial transmission”). Unvaccinated individuals should wear masks at all times. Those vaccinated do not need to mask outdoors, inside residence halls, and when alone within private offices.

In making decisions as the semester begins, we will continue to follow guidance from the CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health. We are committed to our in-person experience this fall. We appreciate your patience as we work to refine the masking policy and other guidelines necessary for this to be a success. We plan to share those details in the coming days through Lafayette Today

Sincerely,

Lafayette’s COVID-19 Action Group
