The College greatly appreciates the effort of everyone who followed the Operational Level 3 guidance last week. All arrival tests have been received, and there were very few positive cases. Per the COVID-19 dashboard, active cases include 11 students and four employees. As a result, the campus will transition to Operational Level 2 effective 7 a.m. tomorrow. In-person classes will be held at the discretion of faculty, and athletics practices will resume. Dining halls will resume sit-down dining on Tuesday.
If infection rates remain low enough and compliance with protocols remains relatively high, the College will remain at Operational Level 2 for two weeks and then reevaluate. While everyone wants a return to a sense of normalcy, the next few weeks are extremely important. All members of the community are asked to remain vigilant by wearing face coverings, maintaining physical distancing, keeping informal social group sizes to five or less, and notifying Bailey Health Center when feeling ill (employees should stay home when ill).
Operational level transitions will be announced by VP Diorio in Lafayette Today. Changes that increase restrictions can occur at any time during the semester and are effective immediately when implemented. Changes that reduce restrictions will be announced on Fridays.
